NOCTE OBDUCTA - Nektar Teil 1 (Zwölf Monde, eine Handvoll Träume) (CD)
"Nektar - Teil I (Zwölf Monde, eine Handvoll Träume)" is the sixth release of
'Nocte Obducta' so far and contains the most epic material the band has produced yet. The intro is followed by four exceptionally long songs that were
inspired by the four seasons. Nevertheless, this is not a true concept album as the only connection between the songs is the theme of the four seasons and not a real story that is told song after song. Like on the previous records, the lyrics are in German.
Stylistically, the material, which was composed in the period from 1994 to 2000, ranges from atmospheric black and death metal on the one hand to solemn, calm moments on the other hand. The musicians of the band are truly capable of combining their early 90s black metal roots with more modern ideas, complex musical structures, and even progressive parts. Everything seems quite natural;
they never leave the listener with the impression that they might lose their identity or deny their musical roots.
"Nektar - Teil II" will presumably be released in January 2005: the first part of the album will deal with a retrospect on yesterday and will consequently deal with the beginning of the work for "Nektar - Teil I", whereas the second part contains three totally different tracks that present an outlook on the future that raises - but does not answer - the question of the future development of this exceptional band.
Both, "Nektar - Teil I" and "Nektar - Teil II" were recorded once again in the mighty halls of the Maranis Studios which fulfilled the expectations and delivered a proper sound for these monumental recordings.
